On the Republican VP

I simply can't believe that Palin was the first choice.

More likely, the front-runners Pawlenty, Romney and Lieberman declined. You may wonder why?

McCain had to give in to the "base". Sounds like the work of the great mathematician.

A complete defensive, demographic, probability based pick. I think this bodes well for the Democrats. Way to go!! We need more errors on the Republican side to get over the almost even polling data.

I doubt any of the others was made the offer or declined. They were all weak choices.

Pawlenty could not have handled Biden in the debates, Romney was not trusted by conservatives and would have resulted in two multi-millionaires on the ticket, and Lieberman would have just energized the Democrats against him (besides giving the impression of two Florida retirees on the ticket :).

I think Palin was an obvious play for the disgruntled Hillary crowd.
